Club Member & Runner of the October 2016
What a month, Congratulations to the below members:
Runner of the Month : Lee Denton – He has dipped under 40mins at Pilling 10k for the first time this month which is exceptional along with a team prize. It’s been a long time coming for him with months of exceptional running.
Member of the Month : Margaret Morley (Keighley) – She took up the request to run Snowdon Marathon in Andrew’s name taking his ashes to mile 23. Not many could do that without any club support on the day, Phil thank you for being by her side en route. This was a mission rather than a run, we are all very proud of you. Add to that pacing Lorna to Marathon success in York.

He welcomes new runners who enjoy it that much they always come back for more.
11. My runner of the month has to be Andrew Boardman. I think the Snowdonia Marathon was the final race he had registered to run (apologies if I’m wrong) and therefore was his last race so this is the last chance for him to be runner of the month. A fitting tribute to our wonderful Andrew xxMy member of the month is John Hannon for his dedication to the Saturday morning group. 17. Runners of the Month to Margaret Keighley for taking Andrew’s place in the Snowdon Marathon and to Phil White for being there by her side.
They couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful spot to scatter his ashes
18. Wow,such a tough month to decide on runner and member of month as so many stunning performances. To be honest, I have no idea who got last month’s Mom, but I’m going to plum for DJ Row for her sheer craziness and support to all. She and Chester did a great job at Chester and never fails to lift our spirits. RoM – almost impossible to pick. Jon Turner, Michael Lilley for consistent good running, Margaret Morley for tackling the Snowdon Marathon. In the end I think I have to give it to Jason Cook, another stunning performance at Chester plus England Vet qualification! 🙂
19.Runner Lee Denton, race after race with amazing finishing times
Member Rowena for all she does and gives to others, even though she’s fighting depression
20. I nominate Michael Lilley as Runner if the month as he’s so determined and positive after being through a difficult time and also for signing up for a marathon every month for the charity close his heart ❤️ and also member of the month can I vote for Rowena as she was my race Angel 😇 at Chester Metric and for her fund raising events.
21.ROTM – Margaret Morley for stepping up into ABs place and completing an incredibly tough marathon in a brilliant time. Not forgetting the gentleman Phil White accompanying.
There have been some amazing performances and PB’s this month (Shirley and Lee spring to mind!) but this was a very special one off situation and Margaret is an amazing runner.
MOTM – Again loads to choose from, Chester BBQ crew, John C’s new class, supporters galore. Joanne Weir gets my vote, always working away on something or other behind the scenes, super efficient!
22.RoM: Dave Short ultra runner and marathon man and still has the time for everyone else on Saturday mornings.
MoM: Joanne Weir “race angel”. It doesn’t need any further explanation.
23. My nomination for ROTM is Rowena for her hard work running the C25K and doing a great job on the celebration runs. Also for helping and organising some social runs and last but not least pacing runners in races forgoing her own times. My MOTM is Tracey Slater for all the work she does for charity promoting the club on route too plus supporting at numerous races throughout the year with some fantastic photos
24. Runner of the month – Dave short for running 42 miles and running as Milo for a full marathon although he could do with some lessons on map reading! 😂
Member of the month – I think it should be You, you don’t get enough credit on how much time you dedicate to the club, even today you came straight from the airport and run with us, not many people would do that
25. Hi Sue can I nominate Sally Heppenstall for runner of the month because of all the hard work she has put in with entering races this month. Always helping others she is a fab member. For member of the month I would like to nominate John Hannan. He organises a run every week and loves running back to those slower runners or those having a tough one. He’s truly a joy to run with. Come to think of it, this is a really great club.
26. Runner of the month Michaela Douglas for a fantastic PB of 55.50 on Sunday as well as a good time on the Manchester half. Member of the month Ashley for all his hard work behind the senses. Invites and news letters. Cheers
27. I would like to nominate Dave Short for ROM for his efforts in the ultra and for getting Milo round his first Marathon in Dublin!
I would like to nominate Joanne Weir for MOM for her patience and organisation of the club London marathon ballot.
28. Please could I nominate Margaret Morley for runner of the month, what a lovely tribute herself and Phil White did for Andrew on the run up Snowdon. Member of the month is Rowena as she never fails to amaze me with the commitment and selflessness for others that she puts into everything she does.
29. ROM – I would like to nominate both Margaret Morley and Phil White for the Snowdon marathon, especially as they took Andrew with them. RIP Andrew. They are both fantastic runners and this was a lovely tribute.
MOM – Joanne Weir for many things but mostly for her selfless act of getting our Cheryl to the finish line at the Chester Metric Marathon. Well done Joanne.
31. My nomination is Joanne Weir x
32. Can I please nominate Aadila for Road Runner of the month . With out her support and dedication I would have never completed my first half at Manchester.
33. Can I please nominate Margaret Keighley for runner of the month for her Snowden run and safe delivery of AB and Joanne Croasdale for club member, she was absolutely fab marshalling the Manchester half and I remember the genuine look of elation as she saw us running and ran alongside us and encouraged for a few metres.
34. MOM: Margaret Keighley for her no nonsense approach to step in for the brutal Snowdon marathon. And didn’t she do BRR proud!!
ROTM: Lee Denton for his massive improvement and going sub 40 on his 10k pb. He’s worked so hard and always gives it his all!
35. Jonathan Mallison for runner of month for his N.Y.C. run and his half marathon please. Member of the month John Clucas for the aerobics class.
36. I would like to nominate three people for member of the month. Madeline, Kelvin and Susan for the brilliant job with the bbq at Chester x
37. ROTM for me has to be Michael Lilley for Chester marathon. Under the circumstances he could’ve pulled out of Chester, but he ran it in memory of Liz & smashed it. Not only that but next year is Michael’s year of 12 marathons!
MOTM I think this is always a tricky one to choose as we have such a fabulous group of members, but I think Rowena is my choice. For being a race angel to not only our members but to any fellow runners that need assistance. She really does show the running world the very best of our club.
38.Shirley Hargreaves runner of the month for winning female vet at Lytham
Kerry Rodgers member of month for sorting out the Dublin trip.
39. May I vote Lee Denton for Runner of the Month. Unlucky not to win in previous months, he has just done a great Accrington 10k, and who could forget the 10k in Pilling with 39.48. Massive mention to Joshua Crowther, who has done 2 sub-3 marathons, and nearly broke 1 hour over 10 miles. I just feel that it’s Lee’s turn and Joshua has got even more fab performances to come and very soon. For Member of Month, Joanne Weir has my vote for sorting out all the rejection letters and the Marathon draw.
40. Lee Denton is definitely long overdue Runner with PB after PB and now has broken the 40 mins barrier which placed him in races this month! Member of the month Margaret Morley for stepping in without question to run a tough marathon, Snowdon, without a club presence and with a hip issue and to scatter Andrews Ashes at the highest point. What a tough lady who gets on with it! Also to Phil for accompanying her on this mission x
