Annual Club Handicap (2011) Results

Club News, Race Results 1 Comment »

Thank you to all 28 runners who took part in the Blackburn Road Runners 2011 5k Handicap at Witton Park, a great turn out particularly from newer members. There was a caveat that a 10k had to have been run as a BRR this year to qualify to win.

Please find attached the results and can confirm the winners, who excelled past their handicap time, were as follows:-

Craig Wilkinson and Lisa Ingham (well done to both of you)

Well done also goes to Daniel Isherwood, our resident Ironman who had some who finished in the fastest time of 17:56 mins! wow!!!! Unfortunately he didn’t qualify for the shield due to the above caveat.

Also to Lesley Dewhirst, our fastest lady, in a time of 22:59

A big thanks to Margaret, Sarah & Darrell who were time keepers and Paul, Jean, Duncan, Eileen, Sheila, Oscar, Steve H and Julie who marshalled the course and provided motivational support! Andy Knowles popped up again en route!

Thanks again for your support!

Elswick Express 10 Mile

Club News 2 Comments »

This is the first time this race has been run although expected it to be flat there is a very slight incline on the winding country roads, this wasn’t just me Mick agreed.

Elswick are finalists in The Best Village in Bloom and I am not suprised there were flowers everywhere, well worth a go next year.  Well done to everyone who competed, especially John Mitchell who always seems to run a good time.

What a super turnout!  22 runners from the club took part in the Fleetwood Sotos 10K.  This is wonderful.

Thanks to all who took part and well done on slogging away in the heat.

Extra Brownie points to everyone who wore a club vest, which was almost all of you.  I am still thinking of a suitable penance for those who didn’t :-)

Team Bleep Test – 15 June 2011

Club News, Race Results No Comments »

Well done to those who dared to test their fitness tonight on the ‘Bleep Test’.
All did really well and got from average to excellent… no unfitties in our ranks!

As I explained this test is not a good predictor of long distance performance and ‘club members’ who have had alternative team/sprint training such as football faired particularly well.

I must point out a few shining performances:

**Ross Henderson (25) who proved he was fit enough to be a Royal Marine Commando with a mega 12.1**

** Also ‘Commando’ Dave Lancaster (49) with an excellent 11.1**

**Linda Rusyn (56) who got the highest female score with 8.11 which rates as excellent and would get her in the British Army!! **

All runners were easily fit enough to get in the UK Police Force (useful to know if any of us have cause to chase a burglar)

Thanks all for your patience as we had to test in small groups and the surface was somewhat slippy at the ends! If anybody would like another go at any point and thinks they can beat their score on the track I am happy to nip down and test.

This also applies to anybody who missed out tonight.  The results are below with your V02 Max related figures.

Thanks to Shafiq for help in organising and Sheila & Steve for marshalling.

Keep up the good work

Sue
