The day started off nice and warm, myself and Sheila walked the dogs and then decided we would run a route that Sheila had done before going to Mongolia and when she was training for the London Marathon.
The start of this 13mile route is uphill, by the time we reached the top we both felt quite warm. After running the first two miles we both knew this was going to be tough run the weather was hot and humid. We carried on until around the 7 mile marker were we then reached Gisburn and refilled our water bottles, with a big sigh of relief.
We both forgot how undulating this route was. Normally you take in the scenery but not today, the main thing now was to finish in one piece.
The British weather is so unpredictable, and today was no different with around 2 miles to go the sky turned black, and when we wanted it to rain it did’nt bother until we got back and in the car, then the heavens opened tarmac on the roads had broken up, and the roads were like rivers , we both just looked at each other and laughed. That was one hard training run today and at one point I was thinking of ways of trying to shorten the route as the heat was unbearable.
Well done Sheila, thanks for a good run. If anyone is daft enough to join us on these runs you are most welcome they are fun . . . . . honest!

Debbie and myself ran Staveley stampede 10 mile race.
The first 3 miles was uphill on rural roads then what a delight, we then ran around 5 miles through fields full of poppies and a nature reserve, cross country then came back out onto rural roads and paths for the final few miles.
The marshalls along the way were excellent and local people cheering us on.
The music was playing at the end and there was tea, coffee cakes and stalls were you could buy local produce. Even the mile markers had faces on of people running in different ways. From getting your race number with your name on and newletter which was funny and interesting, to the end it was a race i would do again.
A great big pat on the back for Debbie who is on top form running.
WELL DONE DEB we will be there again next year.

Well done to everyone who ran on Sunday, we had a few fallers including myself but it was on grass so nothing hurts apart from my pride, hope everyone else is okay.
Leg 2 is a fantastic run with wonderful scenery, ranging from meadows, moors, a tree line route and climbs up to 1467ft.
The weather was great for spectators, I found it a bit too hot for running and it didn,t help when we were expecting a water station but whoever was manning it had to pack up and go because he was running the 5th leg, teach me to run a bit faster next time!!
A big thank you to my partner Lesley who was very patient with me, she could have run it a lot quicker but that is what team sports are about.
Also a BIG THANK YOU to Brenda (our captain) who met us at the Turkey Inn and ran with me up that enormous hill, I was really struggling and she encouraged me every step of the way.
Also thank you to Jean who met us on the way with water, and supplies. The cameradery was excellent, we ran behind a couple of girls from Baildon who even passed us their Lucozade drink, thanks girls.
Will I do it again next year? On the way round I would have said Never again thinking about it maybe yes!!
